Corinne was furious because Nathaniel had changed the entire vacation schedule overnight. He had canceled the private couples excursion they planned for that morning and booked me a prepaid ocean tour instead. More importantly, he had told the resort that the children would remain with their parents unless I personally volunteered to watch them. If Corinne wanted additional childcare, the hotel offered a supervised kids’ program—but she and Nathaniel would pay for it themselves.
