The Emails Revealed What Mom Really Wanted

The other attorney finally asked Rosalind and Corinne to step outside. When he returned, his tone had changed completely. The demand letter was not a court order, and nothing in it gave my mother the right to enter my home, move Corinne’s family into it, or dictate access to my newborn. Any family-contact claim would have to go through the proper legal process and depend on the actual facts—not Facebook posts and emotional accusations.
...

Then Yolanda pointed to the email chain. Months before Winifred died, Rosalind had written that if I received my full inheritance, I would “waste it on a house for myself” while Corinne “needed stability.” Another message suggested persuading me later to let Corinne share whatever property I purchased. Suddenly, the U-Haul no longer looked spontaneous. It looked like the continuation of a plan my grandmother had already refused to support.

Corinne started crying and said Mom had promised her the extra bedroom permanently. Rosalind insisted she was only trying to keep the family together.

I looked at both of them.

“You weren’t coming to help me recover,” I said. “You were coming to occupy the house Grandma helped me buy.”

After that meeting, all communication went through Yolanda.

My house became quiet again.

And for the first time since Wren was born, I could finally heal without defending my own front door.
