The elderly man was Sebastian’s grandfather, Roland—Marguerite’s father. Months earlier, Roland had overheard Marguerite complaining that our wedding was “too expensive” and telling relatives she would eventually make Sebastian “come to his senses.” Without creating drama, he had asked our coordinator to keep his private estate available as an emergency backup through the wedding weekend.
