The New Lock Ended Marisol’s Weekend Takeover

I started the video call and waited until Marisol, Mom, and Dad joined. Then I shared the live doorbell feed. Eight people stood outside my locked apartment surrounded by luggage. “This is the last time I’m saying it,” I told them. “Nobody has permission to enter my home.” Marisol demanded the code. Mom ordered me to stop humiliating my sister. I reminded her that she had copied my emergency key without permission and given it away.
...

Then someone else appeared on the camera. It was the building manager. After replacing the lock, I had already explained that relatives had been entering without authorization and asked management not to admit anyone claiming to be family. Marisol immediately told him I had “promised” them the apartment. I forwarded him the messages where I had clearly said no. He calmly explained that only authorized occupants and approved guests could enter, and asked the group to leave the hallway.

Griffin’s parents looked mortified. Apparently, Marisol had told everyone I had generously offered them my apartment for the weekend. Griffin turned toward her and asked, “You said Elliot insisted.” She started blaming me for changing my mind. That was when I played the first message aloud: *We need your apartment this weekend. You can stay at a hotel.* Nobody said anything after that.

They eventually booked rooms elsewhere.

The next morning, Mom demanded another emergency code “in case something happens.” I refused. If Theo or I ever had an actual emergency, my landlord and trusted friend had the necessary access.

Marisol called me selfish for weeks.

I kept the camera clip anyway.

Not because I enjoyed embarrassing her.

Because after forty-one years, I finally had proof that “family helps family” had always meant one thing:

Elliot gives, and everyone else decides how much.
