Then she explained the part that made my anger disappear beneath something heavier. Marguerite had contacted Julian originally because several relatives on their biological father’s side had experienced serious heart-rhythm problems. After Julian nearly collapsed at work months earlier, she drove him to urgent care and gave the doctors the family history he had never known. He had since been undergoing testing without telling me. I looked at Julian. “You could have told your wife.” His eyes filled.
