Hannah’s smile disappeared first. She blinked repeatedly, reached for the table, and suddenly seemed unable to follow Colin’s questions. I called for medical help immediately and told the restaurant manager exactly what the waiter had warned me about. Nobody was allowed to clear the table. The glasses were set aside, security footage was preserved, and paramedics took Hannah to the hospital. Colin kept insisting she had simply drunk too much, but the waiter told police he had seen her pour something from a small container into the glass at my seat while I was taking my call.
