Her document claimed my grandmother had transferred the house to Vanessa—but the supposed signature was dated nearly three weeks after Grandma Rosalind had died. My mother immediately started talking over everyone, insisting it was merely a paperwork mistake and that Grandma had always intended Vanessa to have the property. The officer did not try to decide an inheritance dispute on the driveway. He simply confirmed that county records still listed me as the owner and told Vanessa she had no right to force entry or unload belongings without lawful authority.
