A Year After I Mailed Those Clothes, a Package Arrived
I was giving away a bundle of clothes my daughter had outgrown when a woman messaged me. She explained that her little girl had almost nothing to wear and asked whether I could mail the clothes because she lived too far away to collect them. At first, I felt suspicious. Posting a large package would cost money, and I had no way of knowing whether her story was true.
Still, something in her message stayed with me. I packed every dress, sweater, pair of pajamas, and tiny pair of shoes into a box and paid the postage myself. She thanked me repeatedly after it arrived, then our conversation slowly faded. Life moved on, and I eventually forgot about the package.
Almost a year later, a parcel appeared at my door with no explanation. Inside were several of the same clothes, carefully washed and folded. At first, I felt confused and wondered why she had returned them.
