The Resort Director Exposed Their Missing Reservation
Thomas Whitfield handed me a slate-green key card.
“Your owner’s suite is ready, Ms Sutton,” he said. “Miss Lily’s room has also been prepared.”
The entire table fell silent.
My mother stared at the key card while Aunt Linda looked around, clearly expecting someone to correct him. Instead, Thomas opened the folder he was carrying.
Patricia had reserved eight rooms, private dining, spa appointments and a farewell brunch. But she had ignored every payment request, assuming my “little hospitality connections” would secure a family discount after everyone arrived.
No payment had been received.
The resort was fully booked, and their rooms had already been released to guests on the waiting list.
Kevin demanded to speak with the owner.
Thomas turned toward me.
“You already are.”
I calmly explained that Meridian Crest Group had purchased and restored Crestwater more than two years earlier. The staff had recognised my family’s names, but I had instructed them to process the reservation exactly like every other booking.
My mother’s face tightened.
“You allowed us to travel all this way?”
“You said people like you do not vacation with people like me,” I replied. “I respected your decision.”
Thomas escorted Lily and me toward the private wing while my family remained around the table, suddenly uncertain where they belonged.
For years, they had treated me as though I could never enter their world.
That afternoon, they discovered the entire world around them was mine.
