The investigation did not end with the chocolates. Detectives asked for access to Desmond’s messages, financial records, and recent communications with my attorney. That was when they discovered he had been asking questions about my property for months. He knew the house was paid off, knew I had savings, and had even contacted an estate agent about its approximate value without telling me.
