The U.S. military struck three Iranian crude-oil tankers Saturday after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched ballistic missiles toward two American Navy warships, marking another sharp escalation in the months-long conflict between Washington and Tehran.
U.S. Central Command said the American vessels successfully avoided the Iranian attacks and that no U.S. personnel were injured. In retaliation, American forces permanently disabled the M/T Downy near Kharg Island and the M/T Stark 1 near Jask. A third vessel, the M/T Kylo, was destroyed in the Gulf of Oman after its crew was instructed to abandon ship.
