What began as a simple search for a flashlight turned into a surprisingly strange discovery beneath my son’s bed. Hidden in the shadows was an unfamiliar object covered in sharp-looking spikes and unusual angles. With no label or obvious purpose, it looked more like a mysterious gadget than something that belonged in a bedroom.
My imagination immediately started working overtime. I examined every side, wondering whether it belonged to one of my son’s hobbies or was part of some device I had never seen before.
Eventually, curiosity won, and I woke him up to ask.
His reaction was immediate—he started laughing.
The mysterious object was simply a 3D-printed video game controller stand. A friend had made it for him, choosing an exaggerated spiky design purely for decoration. My son had used it for a while before eventually pushing it beneath the bed and forgetting about it.
