The Police Report Exposed Bianca’s $748,000 Lie

I kept my eyes on my sister.

“Someone used my identity to buy your house.”

Nobody moved.

Bianca’s mouth opened, but no sound came out.

Then Trevor looked at her.

“What does she mean?”

That question told me he had not known everything.

I explained the mortgage, the forged signatures, the inflated income, and the ruined credit score.

Dad lowered his fork.

Mom started crying.

Bianca finally whispered, “I was going to fix it.”

I almost laughed.

“You were three months behind on a mortgage in my name. How exactly were you planning to fix that?”

The truth came out slowly.

Bianca had been unable to qualify for the house she wanted. She had access to old tax paperwork and documents Mom kept in a family file cabinet. She used my information, copied my signature, and convinced herself she could refinance everything later before I ever discovered it.

Trevor stood up and walked away from the table.

I did not argue with Bianca.

I simply told her the bank already had the fraud report and the handwriting analysis.

The mortgage investigation moved forward from there.

My credit file was formally disputed, the fraudulent loan was separated from my responsibility during the review, and the house became Bianca’s problem to explain.

She called me cruel for involving police.

I reminded her of one thing.

She had not borrowed my sweater.

She had borrowed my identity.

And a $748,000 lie was far too large to keep inside the family.
