The Video Exposed Who Planned the Revenge

Wesley stared at the frozen image on the television.

Then he turned toward Dad.

“You told me she’d cave.”

Nobody moved.

Wesley’s voice rose.

“You said if I scared her enough, she’d hand over the Telluride because she wouldn’t want police involved.”

Dad’s face changed instantly.

“That is not what I said.”

Tanya spoke from the kitchen.

“Yes, it is.”

She opened her phone and showed me messages Wesley had sent her before his birthday.

Dad had apparently spent weeks telling him the SUV was “basically his already.” When I refused, Dad convinced him I was being selfish and suggested I needed “a reminder that family comes before property.”

The truck through my sunroom had been Wesley’s idea.

But Dad had encouraged the confrontation and driven there to watch.

I slid the legal demand across the coffee table.

“Now you both understand why your names are on this.”

Dad started talking about forgiveness.

I stopped paying Wesley’s insurance that afternoon.

Dad’s phone bill followed.

My attorney handled everything else.

The security footage, Tanya’s messages, and police report became part of the claim. Their insurers and attorneys could argue about responsibility from there.

Months later, my sunroom was rebuilt.

Mom’s jade plant survived too.

Wesley once said destroying my home would teach me not to be stingy.

Instead, it taught me something much more useful.

My mother had asked me to look after my family.

She never asked me to finance people who believed loving them meant letting them destroy me.
