Dylan’s Signature Exposed the Entire Scheme

The buyer had dealt with Dylan.

He had presented an old registration card, claimed he was handling Ray’s estate, and signed the sale paperwork while Kayla waited nearby for the cashier’s check.

Priya filed the title dispute immediately.

The buyer had acted in good faith, but Dylan could not legally transfer ownership of a Corvette he had never owned. The vehicle was flagged before a new title could be issued, and the buyer agreed to return it once the documents were verified.

Then the bank records arrived.

The $58,000 check had been deposited into Dylan’s account. Within an hour, he transferred most of it to Kayla and kept several thousand dollars for himself.

When I confronted them, Kayla blamed Dylan.

Dylan said he had only wanted to keep the peace.

“You did not keep the peace,” I told him. “You helped sell your father’s car out from under me.”

The Corvette came home two weeks later, still untouched.

Kayla and Dylan were required to return the money and cover the buyer’s expenses caused by the invalid sale. Their involvement was also documented for the estate proceedings.

I placed the empty key fob beside Ray’s photograph in the garage.

Then I started the engine.

They believed blood made them the real family.

But Ray had already put my name on the title, and in the end, his signature said more than theirs ever could.
