Two police officers were standing on Regina’s porch beside a county code-enforcement inspector.
Harper had pressed the emergency button on our security tablet the moment the concrete truck entered our driveway. The device contacted my sister, transmitted the live camera feed, and allowed her to call the police while Harper remained safely inside.
Regina’s laughter had been recorded clearly.
So had her husband positioning the truck, crossing our property line, and releasing concrete over my vehicle while she instructed him to “bury the junk.”
The inspector recognized his construction company immediately. It had already received complaints for operating equipment without proper permits and disposing of materials illegally.
Regina rushed toward our porch camera, but an officer stopped her.
“The footage has already been uploaded,” Harper said quietly.
The Chevrolet was declared a total loss. Their commercial insurer paid for a replacement vehicle, driveway restoration, towing, and temporary transportation. Regina and her husband were also required to cover the specialized cleanup before the concrete contaminated the surrounding soil.
Her husband lost several municipal contracts when the recording reached the company’s business partners.
I later installed a tall privacy fence along the legal property boundary. It blocked far more of Regina’s lake view than my old Chevrolet ever had.
She believed pouring concrete would teach me who controlled the neighborhood.
Instead, my seven-year-old daughter showed her the blinking camera that had captured the entire crime.
