The Doctor’s Question Destroyed Martin’s Perfect Legacy
The doctor closed the file and explained what Martin had refused to hear five years earlier.
He was permanently infertile.
The room became so quiet that I could hear the air conditioner clicking above us. Martin stared at the doctor, then at me, searching for some sign that this was a cruel joke.
“You knew?” he whispered.
“I received the results because you told the clinic to call me.”
His face changed as the truth reached him. The two children he had publicly claimed as proof of his masculinity could not be his.
But Clara’s betrayal was only part of the problem.
I placed a folder on the desk containing company payments for her apartment, jewellery, childcare, and travel. Martin had used corporate money to support the affair and promised shares to children without confirming their parentage.
The board opened an investigation that afternoon.
DNA testing later confirmed that neither child was Martin’s. Clara admitted their biological father was another executive, but insisted Martin had offered her security, status, and a future.
Martin accused me of hiding the truth to humiliate him.
“No,” I said. “You humiliated yourself every time you called those children your legacy while refusing to read your own medical report.”
Our prenuptial agreement protected my assets, and the evidence of financial misconduct destroyed his position at the company.
For years, Martin believed my silence meant I had accepted defeat.
In reality, I had simply waited until the truth could speak loudly enough for everyone to hear it.
