I showed them Coralie’s schedule changes, the dates of Desmond’s supposed business trips, and the screenshots proving they had been together during hours when she had specifically required me to stay late. I made one thing clear: I was not asking the company to punish her for sleeping with my fiancé. I was reporting possible misuse of supervisory authority.

By lunchtime, HR had pulled months of scheduling records. Coralie had changed my shifts seventeen times on dates matching her weekends with Desmond. Several changes had been made after the schedule was already finalized, and no operational reason was documented. Worse, two vacation requests I had submitted for wedding planning had been denied by Coralie while she approved her own time off for those exact days.

Coralie was removed from supervising me while the company investigated. She tried calling twice, then sent a message saying I was destroying her career because I was jealous. I forwarded that message to HR without responding. Desmond was easier. I canceled our venue, removed him from the apartment lease renewal, and sent his remaining belongings to his brother’s house.

Three weeks later, Coralie resigned before the internal review was completed. Desmond eventually emailed asking whether we could “talk like adults.” I deleted it. The wedding deposits cost me money, but staying would have cost far more. What they had mistaken for weakness was simply trust. Once that trust disappeared, so did their advantage. Desmond thought publicly choosing another woman would humiliate me. Instead, his Instagram post handed me the timestamp that connected every lie they had spent months hiding.

At 8:00 the next morning, I walked into Human Resources carrying a folder instead of anger.
