At the top was a simple note: \u201cPlease return my property and reimburse the gasoline you admitted taking. His wife picked up one photograph showing him beside my truck with the siphon hose and stared at him. Apparently, he had told her a coworker was giving him cheap gasoline. Then she saw the list: my hedge trimmer, socket set, pressure washer attachments, extension cords, and several other things she recognized from their garage.<\/p>\n<p>Suddenly, Desmond wasn\u2019t laughing about me being retired anymore. He demanded that I remove the box because I was \u201cembarrassing\u201d him. I calmly told him I had delivered a private request to his doorstep; he was the one shouting it across the neighborhood.
