Elias opened the envelope with trembling hands. Inside was a handwritten letter and a copy of a document from Mr. Whitlock\u2019s estate plan. The attorney explained that Mr. Whitlock had left most of his estate to his children, exactly as they expected, but he had also created a $30,000 education fund for Elias. It could be used for college, trade school, or professional training whenever Elias was ready.<\/p>\n
Then Elias read the letter. Mr. Whitlock wrote that after his wife died, Saturdays had become the loneliest part of his week. Elias probably thought he was simply cutting grass, but every Saturday morning gave the old man something to look forward to. He noticed that Elias never asked for money, never complained, and usually stayed a few minutes afterward just to talk.<\/p>\n
