Attached were three photographs and still images from our neighbor\u2019s doorbell camera showing Roland\u2019s truck backing directly over the bike. Owen had spent the week asking nearby homeowners whether anyone\u2019s camera had captured what happened.<\/p>\n<p>Then my thirteen-year-old calmly said, \u201cI worked almost a year for that bike. I\u2019m not asking you for anything extra. He had apparently assumed it would remain his word against ours. Owen told him that if he still refused, he would give everything to me so I could handle it through insurance or small claims. No threats. No damaged property. Just evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Roland looked across the yard at me, then back at Owen.<\/p>\n<p>Two days later, he brought over enough money to replace the bike and finally apologized.<\/p>\n<p>What surprised me most was what Owen did afterward.
