Old wounds remain unresolved. Neglect, favouritism, betrayal, harsh discipline, or emotional abuse can continue affecting the relationship long after childhood.<\/p>\n<p>7. They are overwhelmed personally. Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, work pressure, or major life changes can cause someone to withdraw from everyone\u2014not only their mother.<\/p>\n<p>Reconnection usually begins with listening without immediately defending, correcting, or demanding closeness.
